Ministry Teams

The Well has always had a foundation of service, but these teams do a lot more than help others, they connect their members in ways other forms of community can’t by unifying their members in a common goal. Ministry Teams make a difference in our community and validate our message to the people we reach.

Below are listed many of the groups available at The Well. To join a group speak with a Link team member at your campus’ Info Hub any Sunday. They will help you make a choice that is right for you and will get you in touch with the right people to get you in the game.

Here are a few easy steps you can do to start the process:

  1. Stop by the Ihub before or after any Sunday service and speak to a Link team member.
  2. Send an email to link@thewellcommunity.org and a Link team member will contact you.
  3. Fill out an Info Card and mark the box letting us know you are interested in more information on our ministry teams.

Connections

Care Ministry

Caring for the emotional and spiritual needs of people who come to The Well is a community effort. People in this ministry will employ their gifts in a variety of ways caring for others on Sundays and throughout the week. They will also be dreaming of new ways to better care for the needs in our congregation.

The care ministry team is considered a significant leadership/sheparding ministry and therefore there is a unique process to become involved and ongoing training for those involved. This process includes attending our Discovery Class and Guild along with the Care Connection interview and screening process. On this team you would serve one Sunday a month and make calls during the week and attend occasional meetings.

Discovery

Our Discovery Class is offered 4–5 times a year at our North Campus. This class is designed for individuals that are new to The Well or interesting in moving into a leadership role. The Discovery Team is responsible for setting up, and running the class. It is a great way to meet new folks and serve. Time commitment to serve on this team would be 4–5 times a year for 4–5 hours.

Quest

Quest is an outdoor men’s ministry designed to allow freedom of fellowship while enjoying the outdoors. It is an open connecting event that meets monthly and year round for a variety of activities including day-hikes, camping and backpacking. Developed from a love of our Lord and the outdoors our hope is to journey together as men to seek the heart of God.

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.Proverbs 27:17

Community

Life Groups

We believe that life change happens best in the context of spiritual forming relationships. Life Groups are designed to connect individuals with a small group of people to share in community for the purpose of spiritual growth. If you have a desire to help others grow in their relationship with God and with others, leading a Life Group may be a ministry fit for you.

Marriage Mentoring

Marriage Mentoring is our proactive mentoring program for newly married couples. We title it proactive because our hopes are to mentor couples for healthy marriages before hard times hit. For couples interested in being mentored ask the Ihub for a MM application to be partnered. This is a spiritually influencing role so there are some leadership requirements to be completed for couples wanting to mentor. Mentor couples must complete Discovery Class, have been in a life group and meet with our Lead Mentor Couple. Once approved and trained, mentors will be matched with a mentee and expected to meet with them monthly. (Or as often as the couples agree to.)

Equipping

Servant Celebration

This annual event, which takes place in December, is designed to show appreciation and affirmation to those who serve in various ministries at The Well. A time of fellowship and giving glory to God is all part of this ultimate Christmas party! Our team begins planning the event in August, meets monthly, and also helps set up and tear down for the event. If you enjoy event planning, both creatively and administratively, then this team is for you!

The Guild

It is our desire to help our leaders become all that God wants them to be. The Guild is a quarterly event aimed at giving leaders practical ways to improve their leadership capabilities. The Guild Team plans these events. We are in need of people who have a passion for dreaming, planning and helping equip leaders at The Well.

Moms and More

Moms and More is a large group of women who meet weekly throughout the school year. Our intention is to draw closer to the Lord and enjoy community together as we learn how to train up our children in a godly way. We are looking for women to lead small groups, to be mentor moms, to make coffee, and to be part of our sound team.

Finance Ministry

This ministry has 2 areas where people can serve. In the area of personal finance, the team is committed to equipping people in personal stewardship and finances. They are responsible for creating material and avenues to best communicate the ideas of financial freedom. Anyone with a passion for finances is welcome. The time commitment includes serving at The Guild four times a year, as well as possibly meeting with individuals. The second area is to help with the non-profit finances of The Well. In this area, the team helps our staff with research in relation to the business side of our church. A financial background is required to serve in this area. The time commitment varies, but will be primarily project-based.

Missions

Mission Christmas Administration

The Well partners with Susan B. Anthony during the holiday season to link up low income families with groups and families from The Well. This ministry is looking for folks interested in serving for the holiday season and behind the scenes dealing mostly with administration. We will be organizing and collecting canned food for the families. They will also communicate the schedule of events each group needs to know for the family they are paired with. These volunteers are essentially liaisons between The Well and each group involved in Mission Christmas.

Global Missions

We are committed to giving members of The Well opportunities and exposure in the global context. If you have a passion we have a place whether it is in a fundraising event, coordinating, equipping/training, team leading or as a team member we invite you to join. The commitment level is flexible as your schedule allows but could be as much as 1–2 hours per week.

Local Missions

As we become a church of many campuses what is it going to look like for The Well to love those who live around the North Campus, Fig Campus, Southeast Campus and West Campus? Whichever campus you call home, join a group of people who are intentional about loving their community. Commitment level varies but 1–2 hours per week would be great!

Neighborhood Thrift Store

Located in our Target Neighborhood, the store serves as a relationship hub with our downtown community and provides for both physical and spiritual needs to the people in the Susan B. Anthony neighborhood. Please visit the store located at 1050 N. Fulton Street, south of Olive Ave. Much volunteer help is needed at both the store and at the warehouse. Assistance with sorting, inventory, sales and donations would be greatly appreciated and, best of all, no prior experience is necessary. Come join the fun and be a part of an opportunity to serve at the Neighborhood Thrift Store!

Target Neighborhood

Target Neighborhood is a partnership between The Well and Susan B Anthony School in central Fresno. The various branches of our ministry include Saturday Sports, One on One mentoring, Bible studies, classroom assistants and numerous community outreach activities. We can use volunteers with various talents and YOU decide which days and times work best with YOUR schedule to serve. Our Saturday sports is every Saturday from 9–11 am, One on One Mentoring requires 4 hours a month, and classroom volunteers are an hour a week or every other week.

Office Volunteers

Being an office volunteer means being a part of The Well staff team, and is a highly valued position. It takes office volunteers to keep The Well running smoothly. There are a couple of different ways to volunteer in this area of ministry. We primarily have time slots throughout the day that we’d like filled with volunteers that can answer phones and take ownership of specific tasks/projects. We also have a couple of opportunities to serve directly with a specific ministry or staff member, assisting them as needed. Whether an hour a week or a full day we are happy to take volunteers that can regularly give their time and be a part of our energetic team.

Meals for Moms

This ministry is to help our new moms with meals. New moms hardly ever have the time or energy to cook. You would make or pick up one meal for a family and deliver it or have it delivered to the recipient’s home.

Sunday Teams

Aesthetics

Aesthetics is the group responsible for creating the environment for the Sunday Experience. Along with decorating the stage for worship, they bathe the room in prayer, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the Sunday Experience. These women are responsible for the look and feel of our services and as such hold a central role in the ministry of The Well. This is a great way to meet new women at our church, and is a great onramp to service at The Well as the responsibility and time commitment are minimal. Aesthetics meets every Sunday, with setup at 3:45pm, and then stay after the service for 15 to 20 minutes to take down.

(Fig Garden Campus only)

Café Edah

Café Edah is our team that helps create our connecting environments on campus. Some of their weekly tasks are making coffee, setting up our Edah space and also creating elements for higher connectivity. The time commitment for this team is serving once every 2–4 weeks for approximately a 2 hour time slot. There are many roles needed for this team. We are looking for people who can make coffee or create schedules and/or have a creative mind for implementing environments on campus for people to connect in.

Community Center

The Community Center is open on Sundays and exists for the purpose of helping people get more involved in life groups. A home to life journals, resources, and bibles for sale, the Community Center has multiple facets of ministry. Anyone who is interested in joining a life group, leading life groups, or has life group questions in general would come to the Community Center. Not only can they get tools for ministry individuals can get personal attention to their life group needs. Volunteers would serve once or twice a month at the most. Volunteers can either choose the morning or evening as a time to serve and would serve in between the services.

(North Campus only)

Facilities

This is a great ministry for people of all ages and abilities. There are several different areas of service within the facilities team. We need some people who will serve quarterly moving chairs. We also need a few different teams to canvas the sanctuary after the 11:00am service for any trash left behind. Depending on how many teams we get this could be a once a month commitment. We also need various skilled workers to help with the more specific projects involved in maintaining this beautiful facility that God has provided for us to worship in.

(North Campus only)

First Touch

The Well’s First Touch Team is most people’s first experience at our church. When we ask most people why they continue to come to The Well, the First Touch Team is often the reason. They are the warm and friendly faces that greets you, the tour guides that show you around when you’re new, and the first friends you meet when coming on campus. Join a team and serve once every three weeks for the AM or PM services.

Engineering

Engineering is the name of our technical sound team for Sunday services. They are the soul of the worship experience, and you’ve probably never even seen them. This team is committed to providing an experience which is conducive to worship and intimacy with God through the engineering of sound and the use of lighting. Experience is helpful and serving for the morning or evening services is needed.

(North Campus only)

Tech Support – Sound

The sound team is a key element of the worship experience and you’ve probably never even seen them. This team is committed to providing an experience which is conductive to worship and intimacy with God through the use of sound. Experience is helpful if you are interested in serving on this team.

(Fig Garden Campus only)

Tech Support – Production

The production team is committed to providing an enjoyable worship experience through the use of lighting, video, projection and slides. This team works behind the scenes each and every Sunday and is a key component to your worship experience.

(Fig Garden Campus only)

Frontliners

The role of this team is to set up and tear down the courtyard area to allow for fellowship before and after the Sunday Experience. This team plays a huge role in allowing for great fellowship and connection every Sunday. Volunteers are the back bone of this ministry and serve as much as their schedule allows.

(Fig Garden Campus only)

Hospitality

This ministry is a tremendous yet simple way to bless those serving on the front lines by providing a meal for them on a weekly basis prior to the evening services. It is a low commitment, yet highly appreciated service opportunity for those of you who enjoy cooking and serving behind the scenes.

Link

If you are looking to get involved at The Well the Link team is the team that will help you do just that. Our goal is to welcome newcomers and assist them in becoming part of The Well family by plugging them into a Life Group or a ministry team. If you are outgoing and love meeting new people this team is for you! As a member of this team you would serve at the Ihub before and after one service every three weeks for at least six months. You would also be responsible for talking to and welcoming newcomers at our Discovery Class.

Parking Crew

Our goal is to make people feel welcome and show them Christ through smiles and safely-parked cars. In accomplishing that goal we show them where to park their cars. We have a lot of fun every week and would love to have more help. We have teams during each service and we do a Bible study along with parking cars each week.

(North Campus only)

Prayer Ministry

If you desire to grow in fellowship with others and, most importantly, with God, what better way than through prayer! If you have a heart for prayer and desire for deeper relationship with the Lord, please come join us in praying for God’s will to be done on earth, in His church, and in each one of us.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

This team meets the first Sunday of every month in Room 7.

Video

This team maintains the weekly process of capturing the service on camera. This is a crucial team in function, but it is very easy to get involved with us.

(North Campus only)

Worship

This team leads the congregation in worship through music during the Sunday Experience. We are committed to honoring God through our music and more importantly, our lives. The worship band is considered a leadership role at The Well. Therefore, the expectations of a member are higher than many of the other ministries and there is a unique process to become involved.

Family Ministry

Kids Connection

Volunteer Leaders and Assistants are the backbone of Kids Connection at The Well! Through fun, interactive, well planned lessons, our leaders make the Gospel come alive – with smiles, stories, laughter, music, and hugs – we help Jesus change the lives of His little ones. Each volunteer adds their own unique gifts and talents in his/her classroom. A completed application with references as well as a background check are required.

Well Student Ministry (WSM)

Junior High/High School adult leaders actively participate in the spiritual growth of junior high and high school students at The Well. It is our desire to be involved in student’s lives in order to provide mentoring relationships and discipleship opportunities. A background check is mandatory for all members.

Midweek services for Middle School and High School are Wednesdays from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. Middle School meets at the 9:00am and 5:00pm services at North Campus in the Northwest Student Wing. High Schoolers sit together in the front left in Sanctuary at North Campus on Sunday at 9:00am and 5:00pm services.
